After a long break from exhibitions, we are showing sculptures by the artist Michael Dekker, born in 1983. He studied sculpture at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and graduated in 2013 as a master student of
Tony Cragg.
"Spatial ideas of very different kinds are taken up, reflected and plastically realized. Visible and invisible spaces gain expression through space-consuming gestures. Concrete experiences and abstract ideas of space thus manifest themselves equally in the perception of Dekker's sculptures. In their expressive presence, the three-dimensional forms assert themselves in space. At the same time, in their gestural-abstract diversity, they thematize space as a form-constituting artistic means of design. *
