BSR BUILDING BERLIN, 2021 – The Berliner Stadtreinigungsbetriebe (Berlin Sanitation Departments) are planning to build a new headquarters on the site of their recycling centre at the Südkreuz train station. In addition to office spaces, there will be a conference centre, a central public hall, and shops, with sustainability through a circular economy playing an important role.
Our proposal for the sanitation department site at Südkreuz Station is an ensemble of four administrative buildings gathered around a central public square. Bridge-like steel buildings span a greened axis that runs north–south through the site, with green façades transforming the buildings themselves into part of the greenspace.
