RESIDENTIAL BUILDING PRENZLAUER ALLEE BERLIN 2022 — In context of the Wilhelminian block structure and the significant urban modernism of Bruno Taut, a new contemporary ensemble of buildings is being created at the Carl Legien Settlement, consisting of an office building and a residential building. A differentiated spatial framework of private and public spaces is being built. On Prenzlauer Allee, the urban context is strengthened as "Urban Boulevard". In the transition to Erich-Weinert-street, the motif of a green residential area is prepared in the entrance to the "Carl-Legien-Siedlung". The courtyard is of course the protected and green space of the building ensemble, especially of the residential buildings. Both parts of the building develop an appropriate independence as well as commonalities. Both are covered by a uniform facade relief in the same profile sizes. The fine grid draws the individual parts of the building together to form a large-scale figure and mediates between the granularity of the Wilhelminian period and the large-scale figures of modernism.
