Architectural competition: an honourable mention for O&O Baukunst

The work provides a clear concept that can be easily interpreted in urban space: The fire station building on Heusteigstrasse is connected to the administration building on Katharinenstrasse by a base, giving it an address on Katharinenstrasse. The materiality of the fire station and base are uniform, both in red clinker, while the façade of the administration building is in pale mineral. The courtyard above the enclosure towards the Jakobschule school is open, giving the inner courtyard air and the adjacent school views. (...) The relatively compact design is characterised by the use of recycled materials. Another positive aspect is the extensive use of the roof space for photovoltaic panels (...).”
