MUNICH MOOSACH URBAN NEIGHBORHOOD // 1st Prize - 18.05.2022
Hard on the outside, soft on the inside: This is the construction principle of the new city neighbourhood south of the Botanikum. Single buildings line the streets with façades slightly turned towards each other, combining to create a whole. The earthy hues of the buildings range from white to fireclay and ochre, from sienna to an array of reds, and the unfurling of building heights creates a varied urban silhouette. High points rise up on Feldmochinger Straße, forming an entrance and accentuating the transition from the edge of the settlement to the railway shunting yard.
Awarded first place, the master plan by O&O Baukunst and studio grüngrau Landschaftsarchitektur infuses the living environment with great potential, taking into account such wide-ranging priorities as quality of stay, climate adaptation, fire safety, kindergarten areas, and intensive greening. The design of “the structural framework ensures a clear separation between public space and the large greened inner courtyard”, and the jury praised the "excellent networking of open spaces and the clear yet varied urban development".
