RAW GROUNDS MASTERPLAN Berlin // Our contribution to the workshop process - 22.02.2022

The RAW grounds in the Berlin Friedrichshain district has a rough industrial charm. It extends across the site of the former Imperial Railway repair shop to the Warschauer Brücke bridge, to the train tracks, and finally Revaler Straße. Since the beginning of the twenty-first century, the property has been a space for art and culture, a party location, and a site for improvisation.

As part of a creative workshop process, O&O Baukunst examined the question of how the RAW grounds could move into the future with a vibrant mixed use of culture, shops, offices, and public open space. Historic and already existing spaces provide the best indication of possible formats and types of change that go beyond the mainstream, traditional city.
