THE FIRST STONE IS SET // Siemensstadt Square Berlin - 25.06.2024
A vision is becoming reality - the new building project on Siemensstadt Square is being kicked off today with the ceremonial laying of a foundation stone! German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Mayor of Berlin Kai Wegner, and Siemens CEO Roland Busch joined us for the celebration.
A pioneering urban quarter and beacon of the future is being built on a former factory site, all based upon an integrated master plan by O&O Baukunst. Apartments, office space, modern industrial production sites, and start-up spaces will be built as well as providing space for art and social infrastructure, daycare centres, and a primary school.
We are delighted to play an active role in industrial change, renewable energy, and the mobility transition with our master plan for Berlin’s pioneering location in Spandau. The guiding scheme for Siemensstadt Square is an ecological and integral overall concept that defines the urban framework - a comprehensively sustainable plan comprising architecture, urban development, open space and climate planning, rainwater management, energy technology, and mobility - with the aim of achieving a CO2-free city.
